Job Summary

Provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the

promotion of good sleep.

Essential Functions
  • Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.
  • Analyzes data collected during sleep testing, including but not limited to staging, calculation of appropriate indices, and other related activities.
  • Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines.
  • Maintains equipment for proper function and operation.
  • Evaluates patients' and significant others' educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
  • Mentors' polysomnographic technicians with regard to all aspects of sleep medicine. Validates ten percent of scoring performed by polysomnographic technicians.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Polysomnographic Technologist, Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.

Preferred

  • Respiratory Therapist State of Michigan
  • Respiratory Therapist Registry, National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
