The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and coordinating appointments, maximizing clinician schedules, verifying insurance and providing a positive patient experience. The coordinator answers incoming calls within appropriate timelines and meet productivity and quality standards set by the organization. The coordinator is responsible for reviewing provider schedules daily to ensure maximum capacity met. This position is required to effectively communicate with clinical teams, nurses, and clinicians to relay information to the appropriate clinic as needed. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. Participation in Compliance and other important training is a condition of employment.

This position is full time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 303 ROMA AVENUE NW 5th floor Albuquerque NM 87102.

We offer 6-12 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted onsite and will go remote after.

If you are located within 30 miles of Albuquerque, NM, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Accurately schedules and coordinates patient appointments for assigned clinics.
  • The ability to work in a high call volume environment while meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Analyzing provider schedules to ensure maximum capacity is met.
  • Obtains eligibility and benefit information in a timely manner: assigning FSC (Financial Class) entering benefits, and all other related activities i.e. transfers, demographic data changes in EPIC.
  • Registers patients in EPIC including updating patient demographics, current insurance information, current primary care provider, emergency contacts, and all relevant fields.
  • Uses appropriate text templates in the electronic health record, tasks clinic teammates using the electronic health record, and ability to multitask between business office systems and the electronic health record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent working experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ years of related customer service experience in the administration, medical, or scheduling field
  • 1+ years of related healthcare experience to include scheduling experience and in verification of eligibility and benefits
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.



Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Reside within 30 miles of Albuquerque, NM
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.



Soft Skills:



  • Ability to problem solve, excellent writing and verbal skills
