What is the opportunity?
The Investment Diligence Associate will support the Originations Management team, within RBC Community Investments, and work with Investment Manager and Investment Analyst staff, with primary responsibility for collecting and managing due diligence for real estate transactions structured with a tax credit component.
What will you do? Manages and reviews due diligence for real estate closings which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Prepares and maintains the closing checklist, and communicates with outside counsel and other Company staff members regarding status of review.
- Coordinates and leads diligence calls with developer, counsel, Investment Analyst and Investment Manager by outlining goals for each call and setting timeframe expectations for receipt of diligence from the developer.
- Orders background searches as required by Group Risk Management.
- Provides developers with up-to-date form documents.
- Coordinates closing process with counsel, Investment Analyst, Investment Manager, developer and lenders to ensure a timely and efficient closing/funding.
- Contacts developer and outside counsel to obtain items on the post-closing agreement.
- Communicates openly and honestly with all parties involved with each transaction, including a proactive approach to needed diligence items, prioritizing diligence items with the most lead time.
- May be asked to participate in training events for department.
- Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
- Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
