Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Works to enhances the reliability of the on-site electrical and mechanical engineering function of the Mechanical department at Pier Six.

Principal Duties:



  • Inspects and maintains the facilities and equipment to avoid repairs and out-of-service time. Insures that Pier 6 is up to industry ISO Standards.
  • Works with the Mechanical department to generate proposals for equipment modernization to achieve operational improvements and enhanced reliability.
  • Procures materials necessary, but within budgetary confines, for capital projects, maintenance activities and a protection stock of critical items to insure for the safe and efficient operation of Pier 6 and Norfolk Mechanical facilities.
  • Motivates and trains personnel to increase productivity and reduce cost. Ensures that all DEQ and State Air Board training records are current and up to date.
  • Documents software development for supervision and shop craft employees.
  • Required to be on call to assist and be on the scene of major delays or unusual occurrences. Assumes the responsibility for the Coal Pier in the absence of the Senior General Foreman Pier Operations.


Job Related Experience:

Minimum Level: 3-5 years Preferred Level: 6-10 years
