Job Summary

The Pharmacy Billing Specialist will report to the Finance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience



  • High School graduation, vocational school graduation, or GED
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy claims billing specialist required
  • Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Technician
  • Additional coding certification (CPC, CPMA, CMC, ART, RRA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CBP) strongly preferred
  • National Certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board preferred


Job Duties



  • Monitor assigned pharmacy work queues, resolve errors, and respond to requests for information; work with others internally to resolve any issues
  • Researches, analyzes and appropriately resolves rejected claims by reaching out to PBMs, external vendors, or internal departments to ensure maximum payer reimbursement
  • Tracks and resolves at risk revenue associated payer set up, billing, rebilling and reversal processes
  • Prepare and maintain reports that help identify discrepancies related to billing, reimbursement, and/or drug price inaccuracies
  • Help answer questions related to reconciliations, claim billing, and reimbursement
  • Run reports as needed
  • Reconcile all pharmacy invoices
  • Assist others within the pharmacy finance team
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
