Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the GES Transport Team ad Operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of billing, invoices, payments, and monitoring accounts to ensure payments are up to date.

The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Transactional Services Team Lead.

Job Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Process invoices/payable for all Transport Line of Businesses, including processing of order billing, collection of invoices, AP processing, and allocating charges amongst the division.
  • Work with vendors and purchasing personnel to ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner and expenses are recorded in the period they are incurred. Perform vendor reconciliation as deemed necessary and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Calculate journal entries and accrual monthly.
  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Support terminal personnel with purchasing contacts, applications for new vendors, compliance with certificate insurance and payment terms reviews.
  • Work with operations personnel to comply with annual document retention policies of the company.
  • Assist with the timely completion of the daily and monthly deliverables surrounding the reconciliation of deliveries, sales, and invoicing.
  • Assist Managers with analysis, ad-hoc reporting and other support as requested.


Qualifications

  • Education Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 1+ years of AR, AP and/or accounting experience. Industry experience helpful.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer literate, in Load Master, SAP and PC based applications. Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to understand the principles and procedures of bookkeeping and record-keeping.

  • Able to work with standard office/computer Equipment
  • Capable of working in an open office environment
  • Capable of working in very close quarters

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
