Staff Physical therapist Pediatric Chronic Illness Center Full Time 81798BR Job Summary The Staff Physical Therapist (Physical Therapist 2) works with pediatric patients across the age continuum - infants, children, adolescents - and from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds providing both direct and indirect patient care services. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Physical Therapist plans and administers a full range of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. Services include patient evaluations using physical therapy tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing physical therapy modalities and procedures. This Physical Therapist will work closely with the Wellness Center providers to deliver individual and group fitness services aimed at supporting patients in their wellness journey. Services include patient evaluations using physical therapy tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing physical therapy modalities and procedures. The Staff Physical Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Staff Physical Therapist may also supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides as well as Physical Therapy students. The Staff Physical Therapist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including quality and performance improvement activities, clinical education programs, and inservices and staff development activities. Our center focuses on the co-creation of individualized pathways towards wellness for children with chronic illnesses and their families. We partner with patients over the long haul to provide personalized holistic support - connecting them with wellness services, providing support in the transition from pediatric to adult medical care, and helping them build a community of peers. Required Qualifications DPT Doctoral graduate degree If graduated 15 or more years ago, a bachelor's degree Minimum one year related patient care experience. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to recognize signs of distress. Basic computer skills including work within Epic electronic medical record Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills. This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
