Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil Technician in either our Champaign or Bloomington, IL office with an interest in roadway construction and design. In this role, you will work in the field overseeing construction and performing inspection tasks. You will also have the opportunity to assist in the office with design on a wide variety of road and street reconstruction and maintenance projects. Job Activities: Perform construction observation and materials testing for Transportation Civil Engineering projects Verify construction materials and constructed items are in conformance with project construction plans and specifications Document construction activities and quantities for use in pay estimate generation and approval Perform as-built surveys of project components utilizing GPS and Robotic Total Station Review shop drawing submittals and assist in project documentations and reporting Assist with planning and design of transportation projects including road and street reconstruction and maintenance projects Communicate and interact with supervisors, contractors, and clients Candidate will receive exposure to a wide variety of project types across Transportation Engineering Career Growth opportunities exist for leaning and advancement Specific Requirements include: Associates degree in Applied Science with emphasis in civil construction or construction management 0-3 years of experience Ability to travel within the Champaign or Bloomington, IL area Ability to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings and specifications Ability to compute basic quantities for constructed components of a project Basic survey capabilities with robotic and GPS survey equipment, a plus Basic understanding of AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, a plus Internship or experience in construction, a plus About Farnsworth Group Farnsworth Group is an award winning, employee-owned engineering, architecture, and surveying firm with more than 500 employees located in nearly 30 offices nationwide.
