Job Description

Student Support and Resource Connection

* Provide outreach, referrals, and non-clinical case management for students in need, with a focus on students with children
* Assist students with children in navigating the
university's processes, procedures, resources and services
* Maintain strong collaborative relationships with campus partners such as Counseling, Disability Access Services, Health Services, Student Support Services, Campus Police, and Residential Life to provide a comprehensive network of support for students in need.
* Provide solution-focused support to students to overcome social, behavioral, emotional, or economic problems that prevent academic progress
* Identify, update, and document a network of community resources/services to meet specific needs related to individuals with children
* Maintain accurate electronic case management records in Maxient.

Campus Outreach

* Facilitate supportive outreach and programming for targeted student populations (i.e. students with children)
* Assist with dissemination of local/state/federal information & resources relative to basic needs insecurity
* Contribute to the orientation of new students with children to the university
* Work closely with Disability Access Services to
support pregnant and parenting students' protections under Title IX

Administrative

* Assist in the collection of data and the preparation of administrative reports
* Actively contribute to a welcoming educational environment to support and engage all UMSL
students, faculty, and staff
* Remain knowledgeable about proposed and enacted state, and federal legislation which may impact student populations served by this role.
* Remain current and knowledgeable on relevant best practices in the field by maintaining membership in professional organizations and participating in university, local, and regional conferences and trainings.
* Contribute to the overall success of UMSL Student Advocacy & Care by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:30 - 4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in social work, higher education, counseling, or at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired
* Experience working with individuals with children
* Experience providing crisis response and case management
* Demonstrated ability to utilize sound judgment and apply methods appropriate to presenting problems and needs of clients
* Commitment to and knowledge of equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
* Experience working in a higher education setting
* Experience providing student support services

Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience Hiring Range: $21.88 - $23.44 per hour
Grade: GGS-8
