JOB TITLE:

Financial Aid Advisor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Financial Aid Advisor, under general to limited supervision, serves as member of the Scholarships & Financial Aid advising team providing financial aid services to students. In addition to advising services, the Financial Aid Advisor is involved with coordinating and implementing activities for assigned Scholarships & Financial Aid program(s) such as institutional and state scholarships, Federal Direct Loans, Pell Grants, Campus-Based Programs, or similar financial aid programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides customer service and advising to students and parents via telephone, email, or in-person regarding financial aid programs and sources of tuition financing. Resolves any problems with a student's financial aid application. Reviews student accounts with families and ensures aid has posted properly to account.
  • Assist the designated supervisor by coordinating and implementing activities for assigned Scholarships & Financial Aid program(s); recommend program enhancements or modifications; prepare program forms, reports or other program documents.
  • Provide information to customers on designated program policies, procedures, and processes; perform and supervise form processing for applicable programs; maintain program records and statistics.
  • Prepare written communications, which may be necessary to communicate program information, procedures or changes.
  • Perform research and analysis to resolve problems and/or issues and recommend solutions to supervisor, or solve problematic issues and keep supervisor advised, as directed.
  • Participates in recruitment and orientation programs.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 1 year work-related experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Work-related experience in a higher education setting or similar organization.
  • Knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion; good judgment, demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to set work priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
