Job Summary:

The Department of Accounting & Information Systems at the Wisconsin School of Business invites applications at all ranks (Assistant, Associate, Full Professors) for a position to start August 18, 2025. The position will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate students in Accounting and Information Systems or a related field at the Wisconsin School of Business, conducting scholarly research, contributing to the Accounting PhD program, and performing university service.

We seek candidates whose research addresses the use and human-centered implications of AI and emerging technologies in accounting, with a preference for research with auditing applications. Well-qualified candidates will also have experience and/or interest in teaching analytics, or other courses that cover the application of AI and emerging technologies to accounting problems.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE)-Artificial Intelligence (AI) cluster hire initiative (https://rise.wisc.edu/rise-ai/). The candidate's tenure home will be in the Accounting & Information Systems department at the Wisconsin School of Business, and the candidate will participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges. The Accounting Department is excited to add a thought leader who expands our expertise on the role of AI. The candidate should have the potential to bridge academia and industry by using these collaborations to produce relevant and impactful research motivated by real-world problems related to the use of AI in accounting.

The AIS department comprises a vibrant, research-active faculty with broad research and teaching interests. We seek outstanding candidates who complement these interests with high-quality research and teaching in student-centered and collaborative learning environments. Candidates with a new or anticipated PhD degree will have a research program underway that will likely result in publications in top-tier journals and demonstrable skills that suggest future excellence in teaching related to the use and human-centered implications of AI and emerging technologies in accounting.

This position is part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative. Through accelerated and strategic faculty hiring, research infrastructure enhancement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and increased student and educational opportunities, RISE addresses complex societal challenges of importance to the state, nation and world. Building on UW-Madison's strengths, RISE expands the University's successful track record of connecting with communities and industry on collaborative solutions.
