JOB TITLE: Assistant Professor JOB PURPOSE: We invite applications for two School of Energy Resources (SER) faculty positions housed within the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering (ChBE) at the University of Wyoming. One position is at the rank of Assistant Professor and one position is open rank, with rank commensurate with experience. These are 9-month, full-time, benefited, appointments with a start date of August 2025. The Assistant Professor position will be tenure-track and the open rank position will be tenure-track or tenured if at Associate or Full Professor rank. We invite applications from candidates with a background in chemical engineering or a related field. We envision the successful candidates will be independent researchers who will develop strong, externally funded research programs, and who will excel in a collaborative university setting through contributions to research, teaching, and outreach. Research in all areas relating to separation, extraction, and processes will be considered, with preference for interest or expertise in the separation, extraction, and/or processing of strategic minerals for Wyoming, such as rare earth metals, trona, gold, nickel, or uranium. SER is an interdisciplinary school within the University of Wyoming focused on all aspects of energy. SER faculty are expected to pursue their research as well as work in collaborative teams with other faculty, research scientists, and SER's industry partners to address state needs. SER seeks to build expertise in the areas of separations, extractions, and process engineering to complement current strengths in related fields. The ideal candidate will have respectful interactions with others and work collaboratively with colleagues to address energy-relevant technologies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will join a ChBE department of 11 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 3 teaching faculty that provides B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering, as well as undergraduate minors in 1) Process Control and Instrumentation and 2) Biomedical Engineering. The candidate should have a strong interest in teaching, conducting independent research, and service to UW and the State. We seek faculty members who will create a climate that embraces excellence, with a commitment to education that will enhance the work of the department and attract and retain a diverse student body.
