Job Summary:
Job Summary: Under general direction, performs testing on a variety of Lighting products to applicable standards and test methods; assembles test samples and makes modifications to set-ups; provides ongoing feedback regarding suggested modifications to apparatus and/or equipment being tested; plus other lab activities and assignments as required. Responsibilities: * Conducts a wide range of test procedures on equipment to the applicable standards and interprets the results of the test. * Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists. Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements. * Assembles and disassembles test samples, hooks-up laboratory test equipment in preparation for testing, and operates most laboratory test equipment without supervision. * Maintains good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work area following tests and carries out assigned laboratory clean-up duties. * Notes and records discrepancies or characteristics of products which may appear before or during the tests and refer them to Sr. Lab Tech, Project Engineer or Manager. * Tests to the Project Engineer's requests and provides general and specific information about the testing process or status of a work order to assist the Project Engineer and improve overall customer service and satisfaction. Education and Experience: * Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience * Associates degree in Engineering Technology OR * 1-5 years of related experience * Experience in operating, maintaining, and calibrating test equipment. * Working knowledge of test methods for lighting performance preferred. * Working knowledge of Energy Efficiency Verification programs requirements for Lighting Products preferred. Skills: * Excel at research, problem-solving and project management. * Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner. * Needs to be knowledgeable of safe practices; ability to move equipment around with assistance or independently; follow safety practices; * Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to teach others, and work independently and as a team player. * Excellent and effective time and project management skills in order to efficiently handle a variety and multiple project requests in order to meet timelines for completion, and on-time delivery. * Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with internal customers as well as well as external. * Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite), as required, learn and be proficient in any test equipment-based software. The typical hiring range for this position is $66, 000 - $100,000; however, based on a variety of considerations (such as education, licenses, certifications and/or, experience,) CSA Group reserves the right to flexibility outside of the stated range.
