ChampionX has an immediate need for an Instrumentation & Electrical Specialist (I&E) located in Odessa, TX.

What You Will Do:

  • As the I&E Specialist, you will support internal and external customers by providing excellent service and support around their instrumentation and automation equipment.

  • You will also use your expertise to support a top-tier service team that drives a safe and continuous improvement culture to expand our reach of customers.

  • Perform all job duties with a Safety-First approach.

  • Work on and support oilfield automation equipment and its communications, including but not limited to Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and all its componentry, Soft Starts, Junction Boxes, Electrical Switches and Transducers and more.

  • Travel to and work in the field at customer locations with up to 25% overnight travel.

  • Develop training material and standard operating procedures for internal and external stakeholders that install, operate, and maintain the systems.

  • Execute and oversee the complete wiring of systems from fabrication to full functional testing.

  • Support multiple field service centers and customers with troubleshooting control and automation systems.

  • Work with engineering to develop and lead new technology initiatives to improve the business product line and bring value to customers and CHX operations.

  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.

  • Train fellow employees as needed.

  • Continually research ways to improve systems and services.

  • Perform housekeeping and general maintenance as required.

  • Complete all required paperwork timely and with complete detail.

  • Complete all internal safety training and observations on time.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Motor vehicle Record (MVR) check

  • Drug and alcohol test

  • Education and certification check

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must reside in the Odessa or Midland, TX area

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 3 years of electrical and instrumentation experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and familiarity with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC.

  • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.

  • Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments. (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)

  • Follow company policies, procedures, and protocols for installation, service, and equipment maintenance

  • Interact politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers

  • Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements; encourage action assuring safe behavior; confront unsafe behavior and conditions proactively and positively

  • Work in an unsupervised environment

  • Read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Use a computer to communicate, create, and access data

  • Determine the priorities, goals, and objectives of work assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman electrical designation.

Work Environment:

  • Work is executed in an office setting and outdoors at customer field locations in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.
