Microsoft System/Server Engineer

Description:

The Microsoft System/Server Engineer position will provide support for systems administration and IPv6-related activities. This candidate will be responsible fo the Windows Server team including providing support for IPv6 Testing, dual-stack implementation, server cloning, and supporting server commissioning and decommissioning for Headquarters and Site Refreshes. The candidate will be working with a team of server engineers to troubleshoot issues for multiple systems in multiple datacenter locations in the Washington DC area.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Rate: $40 - $50 / hr. w2



Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for systems administration and IPv6-related activities
  • Lead IPv6 integration activities for the Windows Server team
  • Perform server cloning and dual-stack testing for IPv4 and IPv6
  • Manage and troubleshoot physical, virtual, and cloud servers (AWS and Azure)
  • Resolve ServiceNow incident tickets and manage change requests
  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide escalation support
  • Represent the team in Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Maintain and update documentation and standard operating procedures



Experience Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of Windows OS (W2K12R2, W2K16, W2k19, W2k22)
  • Hyper-V and VMware expertise
  • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  • Dell Open Manage Enterprise and iDRAC
  • PowerShell and command-line scripting
  • Dual-stack and IPv6-only testing and implementation
  • Microsoft BitLocker and data-at-rest encryption
  • AD Group policy and GPO security posture
  • Experience with large-scale server environments (2000+ servers)



Education Requirements:

Required Certifications/Education:



  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure or equivalent
  • AWS/Azure Cloud Certifications (preferred)
  • VMware Certifications (preferred)
