Job Summary:



The Centers for American Indian and Alaska Native Health (CAIANH), Colorado School of Public Health, University of Colorado | Anschutz Medical Campus, seeks a full-time Senior Professional Research Assistant Level 1 to serve as a Technical Assistance & Data Coordinator for the monitoring contract issued by the Indian Health Service Tribal Injury Prevention Cooperative Agreement Program (TIPCAP). The TIPCAP monitoring contractor provides professional oversight and technical expertise in the best practices in community-based injury prevention program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, training, and resource development to two types of grantees - Part I, Injury Prevention Programs and Part II, Injury Prevention Program Effective Strategy Projects.

This position will work closely with the Project Director to support the overall efforts of the project. More specifically, the Technical Assistance & Data Coordinator will be responsible for assessing the needs of the grantees under TIPCAP and working closely with identified injury prevention consultants to determine appropriate resources and training opportunities that provide technical assistance to fulfill those needs. Additionally, this position will provide evaluation support by managing data collection efforts and assist in composing aggregate data reports for the sponsor as well as reports for individual programs. This position will assist in ensuring that all deliverables of the contract are completed.

Key Responsibilities:

Working in close collaboration with the TIPCAP Project Director, the Technical Assistance & Data Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties.



  • Interaction with Grantees (.30)


    • Communicate regularly (oral, written, electronic) with 27 American Indian/Alaska Native IHS Injury Prevention Program grantees
    • Assess the training and technical assistance needs of the 27 TIPCAP grantees in their efforts to reduce death or disability due to unintended or intended injuries sustained from motor vehicle-related crashes, older adult falls, poisoning/overdose, or suicide
    • Assist grantees with preparing presentations. reports, and/or publications


  • Identifying and Providing Resources (.50)


    • Work closely with project consultants and other identified professionals to identify resources and training opportunities to provide technical assistance to TIPCAP grantees
    • Create tools (documents, spreadsheets, forms, surveys, etc.) based on evidence-based strategies and best practices in community-based injury prevention to assist grantees in documenting and evaluating program impact
    • Manage the data collection process, including but not limited to creating/updating data collection forms, and extract and analyze data
    • Review programs' progress reports to ensure accuracy and identify technical assistance needs
    • Update programs' one-page profiles twice a year
    • Assist with generate content material and managing the submissions process for TIPCAP biannual electronic newsletter
    • Identify topics, and organize and facilitate quarterly webinars based on assessment of grantee needs


  • Coordination of Monitoring Contract Activities (.20)


    • Assist with the planning, execution, and facilitation of the annual grantee workshop
    • Ensure timely composition and submission of program activity reports
    • Compile content and materials for IHS Injury Prevention TIPCAP webpage
    • Efficiently track technical assistance efforts (identified needs, assistance delivered, follow-up, etc.) Assist with additional duties as necessary
    • Position may require some out-of-state travel for annual workshop, site-specific technical assistance, or training




Work Location:



Hybrid - This Sr. PRA position is a flexible hybrid position, collaborating with colleagues at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, and collaborators located around the country. Details regarding work location will be discussed with finalists during the interview process.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Master's degree in public health or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Three to five years of experience in community-based injury prevention and/or field-based public health practice preferred
  • Experience working with American Indian or Alaska Native communities and the Indian Health Service preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of community-based injury prevention and/or field-based public health practice
  • Ability to apply public health principles and theories applicable to the science and evidence-based practice of community-based injury control and prevention
  • Ability to assess community-based programs and assess training and technical assistance needs
  • Careful attention to detail in relation to written communications (e.g., proofreads all documents and adheres to established vocabulary/formatting standards)
  • Adheres to an ethic of cultural competence and works effectively alongside people with different cultural attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in program evaluation and data collection and analysis

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$69,000-$73,000 for 1.0 FTE
