JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Institute of State and Regional Affairs (ISRA) at Penn State is seeking individuals interested in gaining applied research experience within a professional and academic setting for a part-time Research Specialist role. ISRA is a research support unit at Penn State Harrisburg comprised of two research centers, the Pennsylvania State Data Center and the Center for Survey Research. As an institute, we combine expertise from over 20 professional staff in several applied research areas including: data analysis, visualization, and reporting; survey design and implementation; interviews and focus groups; database management; application development; and more.

Annually, ISRA secures over $3 million in sponsored research funding from a variety of sources, including state, federal, philanthropic, and private funders, allowing it to advance its mission of conducting research that impacts Pennsylvanians and beyond. As a Research Specialist, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with these research projects, contributing to work that not only enhances your skill set but also has a meaningful impact on the community.

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
