Job Description:

Lactation Consultant-RN-Full-Time

• The lactation consultant is a member of the Mother-Baby team who provides consultation and hands on assistance for mothers experiencing difficulties related to breast feeding initiation/sustainment in both the inpatient and outpatient setting (prenatally and beyond discharge from the hospital.)
• The lactation consultant is responsible for initiating a plan of care to provide consistent and evidence-based practice interventions.
• The lactation consultant provides staff training in lactation support and gives direction by mentoring to nursing and allied health staff at the bedside.

I. Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
• Current RN license in the state of Kentucky or Kentucky work permit.
• Certifications based on the unit worked:
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • CLC/CBS
