Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2025 intern for our Santa Maria office. SCS's goal is to provide a student intern with valuable technical and engineering business experience through our diverse range of projects for the clients we serve. Also, we believe this opportunity provides a student intern the ability to explore the beginnings of their own career path. As an intern, you may work with us on field sampling for odors, olfactometry, land use permitting, air quality monitoring, and report writing for governing agencies. You will work 40 hours per week typically. The paid internship will start in May/June 2025 and end in August/September 2025. Your exact start and end date will be determined to fit with your school schedule. You will be based in the Santa Maria office and will be in the office out in the field 5 days/week.

You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

Construction observation and documentation
• On-site sample collection of various compounds
• Laboratory data management and review
• Field Sampling for Odors
• Operations and Maintenance of Ambient Air Analyzers
• Reporting and calculation preparation
• CAD drafting
• Being an Odor Panelist
• GIS mapping

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or science and graduating by June 2027 required
• Must be willing to live in the Santa Maria area for Summer 2025 (housing allowance will not be provided)
• Solid technical and computer skills (Excel experience required, GIS preferred but not necessary)
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
• Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office required
