Position Summary
The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus.

The Business Intelligence Analyst ( BIA) will help ensure the success of CATalytics (WCU's data and analytics environment AKA "Data Warehouse") and help drive efforts to improve and enhance data quality in support of helping WCU move to a more data-driven decision-making culture.

Through use of data analytics, data visualization, and data modeling techniques and technologies, the BIA will work with stakeholders applying basic principles and analytical best practices for data collection, aggregation, normalization, and analysis. They will provide operational BI queries and create data visualizations, reports, and dashboards to assist stakeholders in extracting meaning from analyzed data sets. Furthermore, they will identify trends that can help other departments, managers, and executives make business decisions to modernize and improve processes in the organization. The BIA will work closely with Office of Institutional Research to support campus-wide data and analytics requests.

This position requires technical curiosity, strong partnering skills, the ability to support a vision of change, and creative problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship or any immigration-related assistance.

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience building, deploying and supporting BI capabilities and building dashboards or Associate's degree and minimum of 4 years relevant work experience building, deploying and supporting BI capabilities and building dashboards.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience driving the innovative use of BI technology and data for decision making.
* Business process analysis skills.
* Knowledge of data and business processes supporting higher education.
* Knowledge of current best practices in data visualization - tools, methods.
* Exposure to data dictionary tools and data governance practices.
* Exposure to data warehouse technical architecture.
* Exposure to T- SQL and SSIS for building custom reporting tables.
* Experience with reporting tools (Tableau (preferred), or Microsoft Power BI, or SQL Server Reporting Services).
* Proven ability to learn and adopt new technology and understand new business processes.
* Exposure to ERP systems, including Ellucian Banner (preferred).
* Ability to partner effectively at multiple stakeholder levels.
* Presentation and communication skills appropriate to multiple levels of management.
