As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will provide Engines Materials & Processes leadership for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the engines product life cycle for Blue Origin's hardware. The support from this team will range from research/development projects up through qualification/verification and sustaining support for production engines. This support will also span process support through direct embedded M&P support into various integrated product teams. Critical stakeholders will include multi-disciplinary engineers, peer functional management, and program management. This role will require a strong leader passionate about building out functional excellence in parallel with a product-centric mindset.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years directly related experience

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • Demonstrated experience (M&P signatory authority) on a flight production program.

  • Proven experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of components, materials, and processes.

  • Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties (including fatigue, fracture, creep, stress rupture) of metallic and soft materials

  • Proven experience supporting design of aerospace hardware, preferably propulsion systems.

  • Experience with statistical analysis methods and related tools

  • Experience organizing and managing materials and process-related data in a company accessible database

  • Strong written and personal computer skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Masters or PhD in Material Science/Engineering or related field

  • Direct experience managing or leading engineering teams, preferred M&P or production for aerospace hardware.

  • Demonstrated experience developing new aerospace processes and refining existing ones

  • Proven experience managing technology development projects, measuring technical progress, resources, and managing budgets.

  • Experience with Failure and Forensic Analysis experience for rotating machinery (e.g. turbomachinery) and static hardware

  • Familiarity with high-temperature, high pressure Oxygen Engines applications

  • Familiarity with analysis, testing, and mitigation for Hydrogen Embrittlement

  • Hands-on skills with SEM, EDS, metallography, mechanical testing.

  • Experience running ambient, elevated temperature, and cryogenic thermomechanical testing

  • Experience with statistical analysis for preparation of design allowables

  • Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis (e.g. MMPDS).

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00;WA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00
