ERG is seeking entry-level engineers to provide process engineering support in the Washington, DC, metro area. The position will be based in Chantilly, VA, and require visits to a federal DoD site in Indian Head, Maryland. It is open to hybrid work while residing in the Washington, DC, metro area.

Job Description:
  • Production Engineer (Chemical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial Engineer) - Onsite
  • Perform all aspects of engineering duties in support of material and end-item production
  • Perform engineering calculations that support process design, equipment configuration, and process condition establishment decisions for mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, heat transfer calculations, and pump sizing
  • Analyze existing or planned equipment and processes for the purposes of optimization, changes, and maintenance
  • Perform market research and work with client procurement processes and organizations to obtain necessary equipment for conducting operations
  • Process Engineer (Chemical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial Engineer) - Hybrid
  • Provide project-based support to multiple process areas (onsite average three days/week)
  • Perform engineering, safety, and quality control analyses (What-if, HAZOP, root cause analyses)
  • Draft technical reports summarizing findings of these analyses for review by client leadership
  • Prepare, review, and edit technical documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), process start-up plans, safety review packages
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of tracking databases
  • Learn and become comfortable with local standards and regulations to assist clients with compliance
  • Serve as a liaison between different groups working on a project (e.g., ERG and subcontractors; technical clients and Safety office)
  • Operations and Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical/Fire Protection Engineer) - Onsite
  • Interact with technical customers to provide process engineering and safety support.
  • Perform engineering calculations that support process design, equipment configuration, and process condition establishment decisions for mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, heat transfer calculations, and pump sizing
  • Analyze existing or planned equipment and processes for the purposes of optimization, changes, and maintenance
  • Perform engineering, safety, and quality control analyses
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or basis of design
  • Develop, maintain, and manage a preventative HVAC maintenance program to support manufacturing facility infrastructure
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and resolve issues, including safety hazards, worn-out equipment, or outdated systems
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in the engineering field (aerospace, chemical, electrical, fire protection, industrial, mechanical) or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (college transcripts required)
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Competence in using spreadsheet and database software to compile, analyze, and present data
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
  • Demonstrated interest or direct experience in process safety
  • Coursework in or experience developing hazard analyses, risk assessments, SOPs, and other technical documentation
  • Have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
