Job Summary:



The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, at the University of Colorado has an opening for a 0.525 FTE sonographer at the rank of Instructor/Sonographer. This position will provide support to the freestanding Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic, located in Parker and Littleton. This position will also be cross trained to support the other freestanding Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics on an as-needed basis. This position reports directly to the MFM Practice Manager and indirectly to the Medical Directors and the Division Administrative Director.

The duties of this position include performing independent diagnostic ultrasound examinations on "high risk obstetrical" patients who will be subsequently evaluated and treated by a Maternal Fetal Medicine attending physician, preparing preliminary reports for physician review, and verifying data obtained from the ultrasound. As needed, this position may be asked to review and triage referrals alongside schedulers and MFM providers to determine urgency in scheduling. When covering at the Central Park location, the position will perform a combination of general Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine scans. You will work cooperatively with the Medical Directors, Perinatologists, fellow Sonographers, and the administrative team to ensure high patient and referring physician satisfaction.

This position will be scheduled every Monday, Wednesday afternoon and Friday. It is not required to cover call. Each MFM clinic has two sonographers onsite each day. Each individual covers one room with an average of 8 patients/day. Each clinic has GE Voluson22 or GE Voluson E10s and uses ViewPoint for reporting as well as EPIC for our EMR system. We follow AIUM guidelines for our ultrasound protocols and each clinic is recognized as an AIUM accredited ultrasound practice.

CU MFM values a work culture in which our sonographers are well respected. The MFM division is comprised of a dynamic team, which includes 3 dedicated Fetal Surgeons, 25 MFM physicians, 2 Physician Assistants, 2 Genetic Counselors, 2 Diabetes Educators, 11 Sonographers, 7 Medical Assistants, and 4 dedicated schedulers.

The MFM physicians are amazing to work with. There is an ample amount of partnership between our MFM physicians and the sonographers. After each scan, the sonographer will present the case to the MFM physician and share their perspective on the patient's case. As CU MFM is part of an academic institution, a great deal of importance is placed upon teaching and ongoing education.

CU MFM hosts a monthly Education Series for the clinical and nonclinical staff. In this series, MFM physicians present on different topics, protocols, and interesting ultrasound cases. CU MFM also hosts an annual fetal imaging ultrasound conference at Children's Hospital Colorado, which includes presentations from MFM physicians and MFM sonographers as well as a hands-on ultrasound training course.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Licensure /Certifications:

    • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required


  • 1 year of sonography experience dedicated to OBGYN
  • Master's or equivalent experience. Years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience and training in Maternal Fetal Medicine-level ultrasound scans
  • Experience and formal training in Fetal Echocardiogram. Candidate must be willing and able to obtain a valid and current Fetal Echocardiogram certification within 12-16 months of hire.
  • Experience working with ViewPoint ultrasound reporting system.
  • Nuchal Translucency certification
  • CLEAR certification
  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking
  • Computer Skills:

    • Basic keyboarding skills
    • MS Office
    • EPIC

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

0.525 FTE: $50,000 to $60,000
