POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Community Engagement Manager

DEPARTMENT: Diversity Equity and Inclusion

REPORTS TO: Director, Diversity Equity and Inclusion

LOCATION: San Francisco, California

GRADE: 5

STATUS: Full-time, exempt (37.5 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for building relationships with the Chinese community to promote and expand the Alzheimer's Association program and services and increase engagement in the full mission. The Community Engagement Manager must be fluent in Cantonese and/or Mandarin. An ideal candidate will have a broad established network in the Chinese community to build and expand our presence and engagement in the Chinese Community and experience recruiting and mobilizing volunteers. The Community Engagement Manager will help position the Alzheimer's Association widely to increase community awareness about Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. and engage those disproportionately affected and promote the Alzheimer's Association as the place to turn for all matters relating to Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Implement strategies that build community awareness of the Alzheimer's Association's services and resources in the Chinese community. Expand the utilization of programs and services in the chapter and partner with colleagues to expand overall reach in the Chinese Community.
  • Serve as a community liaison and spokesperson in relevant community events to build collaborative partnerships with strategic partner agencies to reach new constituents.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to deliver common programs, serve as connectors to a new partnership to reach new communities.
  • Schedule, plan, market, and oversee the delivery of core services and community forums to reach and serve the Chinese community
  • As a member of the Chapter Helpline Team, provide support to Helpline coverage, offer care consultations and occasional support to walk-in constituents. Follow all Helpline standards, including crisis support and documentation guidelines.
  • Develop and expand Chinese national and chapter-wide partnerships to meet Key Performance Indicators for our Diversity Equity and Inclusion priorities (KPI-3).
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the Association in radio and television interviews that reach the Chinese community. Collaborate with the communications department in creating strategies to engage the Chinese community on social media platforms and online communication channels (chapter website, e-newsletter, blog)
  • Foster community engagement in the whole mission, including advocacy and signature events
  • Lead outreach efforts in counties to reach grant goals. Track and report statistics for grant requirements.

  • Participate in signature fundraising events, The Longest Day and Walk to End Alzheimer's. Work at least one Walk event on the weekend.
  • Respond to public policy calls to action & participate in advocacy days
  • Enhance our culture of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the job
  • Promote and create opportunities for full mission engagement of volunteers.



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience
  • 3 years of experience and demonstrated success in outreach to the Chinese community.
  • Community mobilization and volunteer recruitment and management experience
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
