Job Summary Applies extensive knowledge of credentialing regulations and internal practices in resolving complex licensure cases, performs complex analysis to assess the consistency and application of processes, and proposes improvements to department operations.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $143,800 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Office of Medical Affairs and Governance provides credentialing services for the UCSF Health System and is also responsible for privileging, governance and health plan enrollment for the Health System, including the Community Hospitals division (UCSF Health St. Mary's and UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospitals).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of equivalent experience/training.
- Four years of relevant work experience in a similar environment (i.e.: audit, credentialing, compliance, healthcare, quality, process improvement).
- Maintains a broad range of external regulatory best practices and accounting and administrative operations. Proven ability to apply knowledge to recommend improvements.
- Advanced critical and analytical thinking regarding complex and long-term projects. Ability to recognize impediments, creatively address new problems, develop alternative plans, and formulate solutions.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, including the ability to anticipate and plan for complex situations, define objectives, and adjust plans. Ability to see multiple assignments through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor while working under pressure of constantly changing deadlines and priorities; possesses poise, diplomacy, discretion, initiative, resourcefulness, and a service orientation.
- Demonstrated advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and medical credentialing database application.
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis, research, and reporting, particularly regarding licensure compliance. Thorough knowledge of data management and documentation methods used in medical credentialing.
- Advanced competency in a paperless computer environment and understanding of provider data integrity standards (credentialing software, MS Office suite, Adobe Professional, document scanning/storage, web-based applications and tools, etc.)
- Role models and promote best practices to maintain confidentiality and discretion to preserve
- HIPAA/Peer review protections as well as attorney-client privilege, as warranted.
- Expert knowledge of TJC, NCQA, CMS, DHS, DMHC, ACGME, and other applicable accreditation/regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in working in a medical staff office of a community hospital.
License/Certification The incumbent must obtain one of these certifications within 18 months of hire: * Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) * Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
