Job Description

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, functions as 3rd shift Sanitation Supervisor and coordinates and facilitates the activities of the plant Sanitation program. Directs plant supervision activities to produce quality products through effective and cost-efficient sanitation programs that align with all established policies and procedures. Objectives are met through coordination of management objectives with the plant staff and plant supervision. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the implementation and execution of the Kraft Heinz Sanitation Program throughout the manufacturing plant. This position is the technical liaison between the plant, corporate headquarters, sanitation chemical company, and third-party sanitation provider (where applicable).

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Achievement of established business unit/plant goals in sanitation compliance, effectiveness, safety, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Provides leadership and guidance to hourly Sanitation Laborers, Leads/team, Janitorial team, chemical supplier reps., and outside pest control operator.
  • Monitors all weekly sanitation records for compliance and follows-up to ensure adherence to programs and established limits to ensure food safety.
  • Leads plant sanitation improvement projects, automation, and expansion projects.
  • Directs and reports on overall plant sanitation programs including PSS, RSS, PIC/PEC, expansion, and extended runs.
  • Develops, participates, and reports on monthly plant KPI's.
  • Partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean/Kraft Heinz Global Production System (HGPS)), including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.
  • Manage and evaluate the Sanitation staff including but not limited to performance management and employee development, etc.
  • Oversees, tracks, and reports chemical usage and supply control programs to ensure proper levels of utilization and optimize costs.
  • Directs and coordinates the sanitation environmental control programs like clean equipment swabs, environmental monitoring, and pathogen testing as needed.
  • Coordinates and conducts full sanitation audits including equipment tear downs to ensure effectiveness of equipment cleaning procedures.
  • Monitors plant infrastructure for compliance and develops action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Communicates closely with all functions and levels of the plant organization, including corporate quality, production, and sanitation.
  • Leads sanitation training for operators and maintenance.
  • Trains, develops, and maintains plant sanitation SOWI's, sanitation programs and reports.
  • Manages sanitation tool, brush, and bucket programs to ensure proper tools for the job and compliance with plant color code policies.
  • Member of plant food safety team participating in FSSC certification and HACCP validations.
  • Active participant in sanitation and Pest control KHMS programs
  • Supports R&D trials, plant commercialization, and A-1 sanitary design for projects.

Expected Experience & Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or equivalent education and experience to know sanitary production of food and government regulations regarding food operations.
  • 2+ years' experience in Quality, Laboratory, or Production experience with emphasis on Quality Control
  • Certified Sanitarian or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Knowledge in HACCP, Microbiology, Sanitation, Chemical Safety, Pest Control, and Quality Systems.
  • Understand and align with government regulations relating to OHSA, FDA, USDA, and EPA.
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Work schedule is primarily 3rd shift but be able to periodically change shifts for business needs.

Work Environment:

This manufacturing facility is an ambient environment 65-75 degrees (FDA) environment. The facility produces FDA regulated products. The candidate will be performing some work on a computer and will be expected to be "Boots on the floor" daily or as needed per business needs. The candidate will be overseeing multiple hourly direct reports while mentoring 2 Sanitation Line Technicians.

Schedule:

The work schedule is a core Monday - Friday 3rd shift with weekend/off shift hours as needed per business needs. The facility is a 24/7 plant so adjustments to work schedule can happen.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those minimum expectations by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sit, talk, walk and hear, etc. The employee at a minimum will have to stand, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty pounds, and occasionally lift less than fifty pounds.
