Department:Family & Consumer Science * Assistant Vice PresidentDepartment's Website: *Plans, directs, coordinates, and provides day-to-day administrative and programmatic supervision and oversight for Extension Nutrition and Food Science programs across the state. *Ensures program quality and collaborates with Extension staff, partner organizations, and community stakeholders, and provides technical assistance and evaluation to establish and maintain program fidelity. *Strategically and collaboratively designs, develops and implements policy initiatives that address health equity, cultural awareness, and health literacy to reduce health disparities. *Manages strategic relationships for Extension Nutrition & Food Science programs, cultivates and maintains relationships with community partners, leaders, and community members, and provides subject matter expertise related to Extension nutrition and food science programming. *Provides leadership and supervision for UADA Extension Nutrition & Food Science personnel and provides evidence-based support for County Extension Agents and programs used to deliver evidence-based programs. *Secures external funding and serves as the PI or co-PI to support Extension community outreach initiatives. *Oversees and provides evaluation guidance, technical assistance, and evaluation support for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of Extension Nutrition & Food Science programming and performance measures. *Collaborates with departmental faculty, other CES Specialists, and FCS county agents on interdisciplinary programming and publications in peer-reviewed outlets, extension publications, web-based media, and popular press. *Contribute to activities that serve the department, Extension, the university, and the public including support for Family and Consumer Sciences projects, programs, and professional development. *Responsible for supporting county programs, events, awards, and activities, including availability and timely responses to phone calls and emails from FCS county agents. Qualifications: Qualifications: An earned Doctorate in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, nutrition education, food science, family and consumer science, or a related field is required by the date of hire. Required skills include the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience orally and in writing, and a commitment to fostering a diverse, collaborative, and collegial work environment. The person hired for this position must be able to drive a motor vehicle, lift and move equipment, and manipulate visual displays and other equipment with their fingers. The flexibility to travel throughout the state is required. Preferred qualifications include experience in cooperative extension, certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), and previous experience with family and consumer science and nutrition or dietetics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the principles & techniques of adult education. -Knowledge of the program planning, implementation, and evaluation process. -Knowledge of social, economic, political & cultural factors affecting adult & youth learning. -Skilled in verbal communication and presentation. -Skilled in nutrition and food science education for groups including food demonstrations. -Skilled in paying attention to detail. -Skilled in motivating adult learners and eliciting healthy behavioral changes. -Ability to obtain & interpret research information. -Ability to anticipate changing trends in assigned discipline areas & develop programs to address those changes. -Ability to work effectively with a variety of professional & lay audiences. -Ability to communicate & convey ideas effectively to faculty, stakeholder groups, & clientele. -Ability to effectively perform the duties & responsibilities of the job, including long & irregular work hours, physical & mental work requirements, & frequent in-state & out-of-state travel.
