Job Summary

The Quality Leader is responsible for leading the reduction of internal and external non-conformances, release of final product (shipments), and quality training initiatives.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance of products and processes in manufacturing to specific company, industry, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain lines of communication with customers. This includes verbal and written correspondence and personal visits when required.
  • Provide technical support to Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales.
  • Develop, maintain and implement enhancements to the quality system or processes that result in improved quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs, including tracking, analyzing, risk-based thinking, reporting, and problem solving.
  • A thorough understanding of problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of management planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvement.
  • Effectively communicate and reinforce commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in the quality reporting and management review process.
  • Assist with the analysis of data and metrics, generate relevant reports and lead improvement initiatives, as directed.
  • Lead and support the reduction of internal (rework, scrap, MRB) and external (customer returns) non-conformances through the Quality Clinic.
  • Lead quality training objectives through day one orientation and the quality clinic.
  • Ensure customer shipments are cleared on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Alcoa/Howmet's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/language skills required to include the ability to provide written and verbal instructions, compile and present business reports/correspondence, and present information clearly.
  • Good understanding of business practices and understanding the impact quality it has to the organization.
  • Interpersonal and supervisory skills, such as emotional competency, coaching, providing feedback, and evaluating performance of subordinates, and the ability to coach and motivate employees.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization and project management skills to lead cross functional teams and improvements.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited university OR 5 years Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of AS9100.
  • Experience with quality tools, such as CAPA, six-sigma, lean manufacturing, PPAP, FMEA, problem solving techniques, root-cause-analysis.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the investment casting industry.
