Staff in these roles (BMET 1 & 2's) maintain certain types of life safety equipment or technologies.Core Functions:Performs incoming inspections of all medical equipment items entering the system including new, leased, loaned, rented, and physician- or patient-owned.Performs and documents preventive maintenance inspections on assigned equipment to include physical, functional, calibration, and electrical safety checks.Documents all operator-induced equipment problems and follow-up corrective activity on corresponding work order.Instructs individuals and groups of equipment users on proper and safe use of equipment on informal ad hoc basis.Schedules formal in-service training programs, coordinates, and attends vendor training; provides follow-up to vendor training.Researches, develops, and teaches operator training programs as required.Recommends or establishes inventory of replacement parts and accessories for clinical equipment.Collects information on lifecycle of medical equipment/systems and makes recommendations on replacement.Evaluates and recommends modifications to clinical equipment maintenance per The Joint Commission guidelines and Hospital Alternative Equipment Maintenance (AEM) program.Participates in projects or leads portions of projects providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and/or coordination between Technicians to deliver project objectives.Participates in the selection and installation of new clinical equipment/systems.Provides on the job training for fellow Biomedical roles and contract personnel as necessary.Other duties as assigned.Total Rewards Offerings:Salem Health's comprehensive benefits package prioritizes your mental and physical health, financial stability, family obligations and professional growth.Relocation assistance available for qualified candidatesFull comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plansBasic and voluntary life insuranceShort and long-term disabilityLive Well Wellness ProgramEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)401(K) retirement plan with employer contributions.Generous paid time off (PTO) accrual and holiday payOnsite fitness center with 24/7 badge accessEducation assistance programPublic service loan forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer https://studentaid.gov/Food and drink discounts in the cafeteria.Impressive discounts offered by Nike, Adidas, Carhartt and others.Background/Expertise:For Biomedical Service Tech I:Minimum of Associate's degree in biomedical equipment technology is required; OR Minimum of Associate's Degree in Electronics or equivalent degree field with completion of college-level coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology; Military Biomedical Certification training may be substituted in lieu of an Associate's degree.Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification required within two (2) year of hire or transfer into position.1 year of electronics or biomed experience preferred.Experienced with a variety of electronic and diagnostic test equipment related to quality assurance and/or regulatory requirements for specialty high-end modalities as well as competencies in the use of oscilloscopes, voltage meters, imaging/radiographic tools/analyzers/safety equipment, and medical equipment analyzers. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, routing, applied electronics, circuit analysis troubleshooting, strong mechanical ability, organizational skills, and excellent customer services skills.A copy of driver's license will be kept for departmental competency records and updated annually. Must maintain a clean driving record, pass background for Motor Vehicle Record checks with 2+ years of driving history. If a hospital vehicle is not available, personal vehicles may be used in accordance with hospital policy. All mileage on personal vehicles reimbursed per hospital policy. A reasonable accommodation can be approved through department leadership.OEM certifications on life safety equipment if maintaining or training is preferred.Ongoing certification within area of expertise after hire and w/in 2 years of hire date depending on area of responsibilities.Possesses the necessary skills and technical training to perform job duties as assigned.Must be capable of heavy physical work, including lifting, bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, and pulling for long periods of time.For Biomedical Service Tech II:Minimum of Associate's degree in biomedical equipment technology is required; OR Minimum of Associate's Degree in Electronics or equivalent degree field with completion of college-level coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology; Military Biomedical Certification training may be substituted in lieu of an Associate's degree.Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certification required within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position.Minimum of two (2) years of biomedical experience required; 3-6 years preferred.Ongoing certification within area of expertise after hire and w/in 2 years of hire date depending on area of responsibilities.OEM certifications on life safety equipment if maintaining or training is preferred.A copy of driver's license will be kept for departmental competency records and updated annually.
