Job Summary

The Student Center is currently seeking a Student Reservations Assistant to join their team of professionals

Duties to include:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all students, faculty/staff and external guests
  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Answer phone calls on a multi-line phone
  • Assist with entering and processing reservation requests for Student Center venues and services in person, over the phone, online, and via email; and process payments for these as needed
  • Provide customers with overall guidance on reservations, policies, procedures, and directions
  • Assist with day-to-day event logistics and operations
  • Acts as liaison between Student Center staff and customer throughout the event process (pre-event, event, post-event)
  • Respond to inquiries for the use of meeting and event spaces in the Student Centers and facilitate initial event intake
  • Prepare necessary documents including reservations and diagrams as needed
  • Process event web requests
  • Serve as event liaison including greeting customer, ensure layout follows protocol and communicate with staff to guarantee the successful delivery of all services to assigned event
  • Provide guidance on general inquiries about events or university resources
  • Facilitate client walkthroughs and site visits as needed
  • Send client event information including but not limited to reservation summary, estimates, proof of payment, policy information, maps, instructions, etc
  • Maintain and upkeep the appearance of the office
  • Assist in the planning and production of departmental events; as well as represent the Division in University events such as Commencement and others
  • Provide coverage in other units as needed
  • Complete all required student training

Who May Apply

  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
