Summary

Responsible for clerical duties within the rehabilitation department to support smooth and organized office operations including; answering phones, paitent check-in, ordering/maintaining office supplies, record keeping, and data entry/maintenance. These individuals will also be responsible for assist the rehab staff in preparation of patients and/or the environment of care for therapy sessions. This individuals, under the supervision of a licensed therapist, can also assist in safe patient handling. They will also be expected to help maintain departmental cleanliness, therapeutic supply inventory and other duties as assigned by the licensed therapy staff and/or next level manager.

Job Duties

  • Assists in transfers and stand by assistance of a licensed therapist during skilled interventions.
  • Assists Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and/or Exercise Physiologists by retrieving needed equipment, setting up the environment of care prior to treatments, cleaning equipment, and maintaining department supplies.
  • Assists with rehabilitation department clerical tasks
  • Transports patients to and from department or room via wheelchair or stretcher.
  • Performs regular sweeps of all patient areas to locate ambulatory assistive devices and returns them to their proper location.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Strong word processing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous healthcare-related experience/training preferred
  • Meets priorities and handles multiple tasks.
  • Utilizes good judgment in planning work and acting within the limits of standard practice.
  • Data entry and maintenance skills (Excel)

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
