Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
- Develop geology-focused conceptual site models to support remedial design;
- Assist in the interpretation and analysis of various geologic data including boring logs, geophysical wireline logs, geophysical surveys, and more;
- Assist in the management and analysis of geologic, hydrogeologic, and contaminant data;
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
- Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
- Prepare remedy evaluation, cost estimating, and supporting remedial implementation;
- Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
- Manage work to meet contract schedules, appropriate codes and regulations, regulatory compliance and/or enforcement and industry standard-of-care criteria;
- Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
- Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
- At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, or related field. (required)
- Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration. (i.e., P.G.) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
- Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (preferred)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Proficiency in geologic modeling and geostatistical analysis techniques and software. (preferred)
- Proficiency in geologic interpretation techniques and best practices. (preferred)
- Proficiency in applying depositional environment understanding to building complex geologic models. (preferred)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to carbon capture and storage permits or environmental remediation. (preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access, including the ability to write complex formulas and visualize data effectively. (required)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL, or Matlab. (preferred)
- Proficiency in web-based mapping applications. (preferred)
- Competency in, or ability to learn three-dimensional (3D) modeling and visualization software (e.g. Petrel, Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS), Leapfrog3D, etc.). (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Based on state and federal requirements, this position may be hourly and overtime-eligible or salaried eligible for straight-time overtime. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $78,465/year / Maximum Salary: $122,040/year (Costa Mesa)
