Description

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Perform all duties related to boiler operation, maintenance, recordkeeping and ensuring that the boilers are running safe, efficient and working properly.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance.
  5. Keep chemical pumps in working order.
  6. Responsible for the Ammonia compressors and the Ammonia system to attain the desired temperature from the refrigeration system.
  7. Perform maintenance on the Ammonia Refrigeration system following standard operating and safety procedures.
  8. Play an active role in the Emergency Response Team.
  9. Communicate well between supervisor, other shifts and departments.
  10. Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  11. Assist coworkers with tasks and duties that are within the department as assigned.
  12. Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the plant as needed.
  13. Assists with training new employees.
  14. Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  15. Ensures safe operations through adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.
  16. Assisting in process troubleshooting as needed, including being a technical resource as needed.
  17. Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  18. Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  19. Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  20. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), preferred.
  • Must have a valid Minnesota Boiler Operators license, 1st Class B or above.
