36 Hours Weekly, Full Time, Nights

$$$ 30K EMPLOYMENT BONUS ELIGIBLE $$$

About the Department:

The Labor and Delivery unit is made up of 14 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, three operating rooms, and a four bed OB Emergency Department. The unit delivers approximately 3,000 babies each year. Nurses work with a variety of patients from natural childbirth to high-risk preterm multiple gestation pregnancies. Nursing staff roles include the labor nurses who support labor/delivery (both vaginal and cesarean birth) and delivery team nurses caring for newborns during the immediate newborn period. The unit has 24/7 in-house anesthesia, neonatology, and OB hospitalist support. Previous labor and delivery experience is desired, but a limited number of new graduate nurses are accepted each year. BCLS, ACLS, and NRP are/will be required.

Job Duties:

Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patient's care consistent with the Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies and procedures. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes, and the delivery of quality patient care and initiates change through active involvement in the unit-based and hospital shared governance councils while contributing to a healthy professional practice environment.

National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for nurses as they utilize critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills and exercise appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes. The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning. Utilizes the Nursing Process as the framework for providing care.
