Job Description

Children's Behavioral Health Services offers programs in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Lehigh, Northampton, and Philadelphia Counties that serve children and adolescents, ages 2 through 21, with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. We are committed to providing comprehensive community based services through education, intervention, and the identification of resources to empower children and adolescents to develop to their full potential. We provide the most clinically appropriate services in the least restrictive and least intrusive manner. Because we see each child as an individual, we are able to offer collaborative, family oriented solutions rooted in recovery and resiliency principles.

The Behavioral Consultant, in collaboration with the family and other members of the treatment team, designs and directs the implementation of a resiliency plan which is individualized to each child's and family's needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Develop goals and objectives with the child and family that meet their individualized needs by reviewing the psychological evaluation, working with the family regarding treatment goals, and identifying presenting skills deficits or behaviors to identify what additional treatments may be needed
  • Maintain at least weekly contact with caregivers, Mobile Therapists (MT), Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), and other team members in order to effectively monitor the implementation of the resiliency plan
  • Facilitate Interagency Service Planning Team (ISPT) meetings to review the child's progress relative to treatment goals, reviewing effective treatment interventions, and further deficit or treatment needs for the child
  • Complete all documentation including but not limited to:

    • Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) including the collection and interpretation of data
    • Resiliency plan - development and updating the treatment plan as progress is made
    • Input form
    • Required outcome tools, e.g. Verbal Behavioral Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), adaptive behavior assessment skills (ABAS), child and adolescent needs and strength (CAN), and/or child outcome surveys
    • Authorization packet
    • Weekly paperwork which includes but is not limited to progress notes and encounter forms


  • Provide clinical supervision of assigned MTs, and BHTs (one (1) hour of individual supervision for the BHTs and one (1) hour of group supervision, and any additional supervision, as needed) to include training on resiliency plans, and behavioral interventions by making sure they are following the plans and intervention to track progress on treatment goals; ensure BHTs have current resiliency plan and progress notes by the monthly review/signing off on BHT progress notes
  • Ensure compliance with the Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) principles, practice guidelines for Recovery and Resiliency, and principles of cultural competency by taking annual trainings, and demonstrating the CASSP principles in their day-to-day work
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and restrictive procedures and manual restraints using agency-trained protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS


  • Certification as a board certified behavioral analyst (BCBA) or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute OR
  • Graduate degree in applied behavioral analysis (ABA) from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation OR
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or counseling from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation OR
  • Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation OR
  • Equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency OR
  • License in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, social worker, behavior specialist, certified registered nurse practitioner OR
  • Be a professional with a scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services (for programs delivering ABA services)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must be able to perform CPR and restrictive procedures and manual restraints using agency-trained protocols
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Publisher experience preferred
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
