Description

The incumbent will provide clinical services to children and adolescents and participate in program development in the Division of Child Psychiatry. The incumbent will be responsible for active participation in the development and delivery of instructional activities to medical students, residents, fellows and allied health professionals and for *service functions related to their specialty, interest and expertise. The incumbent will provide service to the SIU School of Medicine and community through maintaining an active outpatient practice and providing consultation to service agencies as requested and develop research in the areas of the incumbent's interest.


Examples of Duties

ADMINISTRATION - 5%
* Perform administrative duties regarding Division of Clinical Psychology as assigned.
* Serve on department, university and hospital committees as assigned.
* Participate in department and division meetings, including, but not limited to: grand rounds presentations, journal club and research discussions.
* Maintains confidentiality of department and patient information.
* Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
* Performs other related duties as required.

TEACHING -15%
* Participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows as assigned.
* Participate in the development of educational curriculum as assigned.
* Serve as psychotherapy supervisor.
* Participate in psychiatry grand rounds and resident presentations.
* Present psychiatry grand rounds annually
* Provide mentoring to Department of Psychiatry residents and fellows.

RESEARCH - 5%
* Develop a line of research in child and adolescent psychiatry.
* Collaborate with other psychology and child faculty in research endeavors.
* Participate in grants and/or clinical trials as available.
* Maintains current SCRIHS certification.
* Maintains ongoing literature research in areas of interest and areas necessary to maintain high quality clinical practice.

CLINICAL SERVICE - 75%
* Provide consultation and psychological testing requested by SIU clinical faculty, house staff and community physicians, within area of professional specialty.
* Provides outpatient services to children, families and adults in accordance with SIU HealthCare policy.


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical psychology, health psychology, counseling psychology or related field by the time of hire date.
  • Completion of appropriate and relevant post-doctoral training by the time of hire date.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the State of Illinois.
  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations .
