The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey seeks to fill one opening in Spring 2023 for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty appointment. It is anticipated that this opening will be at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional midcareer candidates will also be given consideration at the Associate Professor level.
Successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in electrical and computer engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; develop a research program and obtain external funding to support it; work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment and engage in existing and future large collaborative research endeavors; and write and communicate effectively in the English language.

Hiring areas for this search are: (i) high performance computing (HPC), including but not limited to system software, system integration of machine learning and HPC, large scale optimization, scalable systems and applications, numerical libraries, middleware, performance engineering, modeling and simulation, HPC applications such as computational medicine, and the intersection of HPC and data-intensive computing; ( ii) computer vision, including recognition, machine learning, multi-view 3D reconstruction, computational photography, and medical image analysis; and ( iii) system security, including but not limited to the security of cyber-physical systems, software/IoT, machine learning/AI systems, and computer architecture.

ECE at Rutgers is ranked third in the United States in terms of number of undergraduate degrees granted according to recent ASEE data. ECE is home to world class research programs in wireless networking, information theory, signal processing, machine learning, high performance computing, computer vision, socially cognizant robotics, cyberphysical systems and nano/bio electronics. Faculty honors include membership in the National Academies, 13 IEEE Fellows, 1AAAS Fellow, 1 NAI Fellow, 1 PFF Award, 15 NSF Career Awards, 3 DARPA Faculty Fellows, 1 ONR YIP, 1 ARO YIP.

Excellent facilities are available for collaborative research opportunities with local industry through the School's nationally recognized centers such as the Wireless Information Network Laboratory ( WINLAB), the Micro-nanofabrication and Characterization Facility, and the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation ( CAIT). There also exist collaboration opportunities at Brookhaven National Laboratory and with clinicians at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS).
