Department of Pediatrics-Job Description for Clinical Instructor (per diem)

APN responsibility in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital (BMSCH) is primarily to provide clinical care for the patients in the PICU. Participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Performs in an expanded nursing role by providing direct care to patients, which includes taking histories and physical examinations, making assessments, ordering and interpreting lab and diagnostic tests, performing procedures as granted by privileges, transporting patients to diagnostic tests, and monitoring patients during procedures. Rounds with the critical care team, interacting collaboratively with residents and medical students, and consultants. Facilitates care coordination and assists with transitions of care. Works collaboratively with physicians and other members of the critical care team. Participates as member of the rapid response and sepsis response teams.

Education and Experience: Current Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey required. APN Board Certification as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner required. Minimum of two years of related nursing experience preferably as an APN preferred. Excellent oral and written business English proficiency communication skills required. EMR experience preferred. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
