Job Summary

Central Washington University is recruiting a Site Supervisor - Rainbow Center to join our Early Childhood Learning Center team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

This position assists in the leadership and management of one or more Early Childhood Learning Center sites with responsibilities for the day-to-day operation of the classrooms and in maintaining a quality educational learning program. Directly supervise the staff at the Rainbow Center. Lead, train, hire, and supervise student/temporary staff at the ECLC in Brooklane Village and Rainbow Center. Train and assist with educational learning activities and instruction. Manage files and paperwork for student staff and children to comply with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. Lead in development and evaluating of Creative Curriculum, procedures, and activities at the Centers. Serve on assigned university committees. Lead the department in the absence of the Director. Job Duties

Supervise/Direct Staff:
- Directly supervise the full time and part time staff at the Rainbow Center.
- Interview, hire, and train Student/Temporary staff necessary for the operation of both sites. Train in all areas to assist with educational learning activities and instruction, daily maintenance of the classroom, custodial, food service, and office support to the program as needed. Send student staff home when in ratio. Provide performance feedback. Initiate corrective action in a timely manner when needed. Manage files and mandatory paperwork for student employees.
- Assist in the supervision of the Early Childhood Program Specialist staff and cook, including interviewing and recommending selection of applicants.
- Assist in assigning and scheduling of work for the Specialists. Act upon their leave requests by adjusting shifts and/or covering the shift with a substitute.
- Train new Specialists on educational activities and instruction.
- Provide feedback to supervisor for evaluation of performance on each Specialist.
- Serve as leader in the absence of the Director in accordance with Department of Children, Youth and Families.

Program Development:
- Lead in development, evaluating and implementation of program operating policies, procedures, and activities. These are to include, but not limited to; enrollment, handbooks, discipline, Creative Curriculum, age-appropriate development, classroom and outdoor environments, field trips, and enrichment programming with the campus and Ellensburg communities.
- Maintains and builds public relations with parents, prospective clients, community contacts and colleagues by providing information about current activities, preparing, and distributing brochures, pamphlets, and flyer's as well as presentations to the campus and Ellensburg community.
- Directs the organization of the follow-up special activities such as field trips, family functions and get-togethers, and special programming for the center.
- Transportation of goods and services to/from campus as needed, e.g., deliver meals to Rainbow Center, transfer items to surplus, deliver paperwork to campus offices, etc.
- Ensures that program staff, interns, and volunteers conform to federal, state, and Department of Children, Youth and Families regulations and licensing requirements, as well as university and ECLC policies and procedures.

Administrative Duties:
- Work with and provide support to the accounting departments in preparing and maintaining administrative and business reports or records of the ECLC.
- Provide billing reports on program usage (sign-in logs), prepare, and maintain daily sign-in sheet for the Rainbow Center and fill in for Director of ECLC when needed.
- Conduct fund raising activities or marketing campaigns; assist with the accreditation processes or other program improvement activities.
- Recruits and schedules children in the Early Childhood Program; maintains records on children enrolled in the program which include development, attendance, immunization, and general health; manages quarterly program registration for children; maintains appropriate files and waiting lists; processes late registrations; and collects registration fees.
- Manages files and mandatory paperwork for student employees.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Education, or related field.
  • Two years of experience working with children in a group setting, ages 4 weeks to 12 years old.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience including supervision, training, development, and evaluation of staff performance.
  • Experience and/or training that demonstrates the ability to prepare necessary work, documentation, reports, parent letters, staff trainings, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Within 30 days of hire, a successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Valid Certification in CPR, Adult, Infant and Child, and First Aid.
  • MMR Immunization or titer.
  • Negative TB Skin Test.
  • Safe Sleep training.
  • Tdap immunization.
  • HIV/Blood Borne Pathogen Training Certification.
  • Possession of valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit.
  • Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) cleared fingerprints and Portable Background Check Certificate through the MERIT system. (Managed Education and Registry Information Tool).
  • Basic 30-hour training or equivalent credits.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: This position has a minimum annual salary of $49,833 and maximum annual salary of $69,766. The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $49,833 - $59,767. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm (1 hour lunch)

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
