The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Technician will assist in the administration of workplace safety to maintain a safe work environment. The successful individual will coordinate safety efforts and communicate details of safety conditions/behaviors with all levels of management. The lead candidate will support a culture of safety in alignment with the Parker Hannifin Win Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the department manager to promote workplace safety, environmental compliance, and established best practices.
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing activities, meetings, and safety walks (GENBA) in work areas to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safe work practices.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and make recommendations for appropriate personal protection equipment. Observe employees to determine appropriate use of prescribed PPE and equipment.
  • Update job safety analysis (JSAs) as well as project specific safety plans.
  • Coordinate training activities and organize training content for various department activities. Duties include coordinating training schedules, coordinating with third party training providers, and training tracking.
  • Maintain EHS training learning management system database.
  • Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) internal database and safety label phrasing and formatting for workplace chemicals and finished products.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure proper hazardous waste management including metals reclaim activities.
  • Monitor first-aid supplies and coordinate with vendors on stock and content.
  • Coordinate with department managers regarding subsidized personal protective equipment (PPE such as safety footwear and prescription safety eyewear) for compliance to Chomerics requirements.
  • Update Benchmark Gensuite, business information system to track key environmental data.
  • Participate in incident investigations to establish root cause to implement corrective actions and safety measures.
  • Support a behavior-based safety program to reduce incidents and drive engagement.
  • Participate in safety meetings with associates to coach and develop project safety practices and requirements.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required) / 2- or 4-year degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent. (Preferred)
  • 2+ years of environmental, health and safety experience
  • Demonstrated competency in correcting safety discrepancies; data gathering; identifying root cause analysis; understanding and identifying data trends.
  • Possess computer proficiency, knowledgeable with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations (OSHA/EPA).
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing safety a plus.
  • OSHA 10- and 30-hour certifications (Preferred)
  • Ability to multitask and work in a methodical, organized way.
  • Self-motivated attitude with excellent work ethic
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
