Description Position Title: Mill Utility Location: Brownville Description: Our Mill Utility position supports Mativ's PKGSP - Packaging & Specialty Papers team, at our Brownville, NY Mill a Mativ company ("Mativ"). The Mill Utilityposition is responsible for performing all tasks associated with supporting manufacturing operations on the paper machine, and/or coater, and/or inspection winder. Responsibilities include transporting and staging rolls, threading of machines, making saturants, coatings and general housekeeping. This is an onsite position and involves rotating shift work. responsibilities: Conduct self and job tasks in a safe manner following proper work procedures. Perform and document inspections. Monitor and stock operating supplies as needed or directed, cores, pallets, wrap, etc. Move rolls from Machine, Calendar and Rewinder areas Collect scrap and waste from process to bale General housekeeping Assist the Rewinder crew in preparing production materials Keep work area and machinery clean, neat, organized, and free of any safety hazards. qualifications Required 1 Year Machine Operating experience in a manufacturing environmentpreferred Mechanical Aptituderequired Basic Math, Reading and Writing skillsrequired Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendancerequired Ability to use a ruler or other measurement tools to ensure products meet customer expectations Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Ability to work shiftwork and weekends as needed Ability to work twelve (12) hours or more per day when needed Ability to respond to call-ins at any time of day or night when needed Ability to wear required personal protective equipment Ability to bend, kneel, squat and stoop Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and equipment training manuals Ability to accurately read and record data Ability to climb stairs, steps, ladders, scaffolds, mobile lifts and elevator platforms Ability to operate/use manual and powered material handling equipment such as handdolly, chain fall, chain hoist, electric hoist, fork truck Ability to learn and utilize computer-based systems All applicants must pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen Position Demands Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment: Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot. Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes, and odors. May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards. Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including: Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe) Safety Glasses Protective Gloves, when performing certain tasks Hearing Protection Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks. While performing the duties of this job the employee must meet the physical demands: Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Be able to work 12-hour shifts. Perform repetitive tasks. Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk. Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and balance, sometimes in awkward or tight spaces. Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
