Job Summary

The planned giving officer researches, identifies and contacts planned giving prospects. The officer participates in speaking engagements and planned giving seminars. Duties include writing correspondence, reports, proposals and marketing materials. The planned giving officer will maintain relationships with existing donors through regular contact, the provision of annual reports and account statements and donor recognition events. The planned giving officer oversees the collection and entry of data. The position will work with members of the community to build partnerships that will benefit the planned giving program at the Division of Public Service.

Essential Functions

50% Using development and planned giving best practices acquire, retain, cultivate and steward Legacy Society members for the benefit of the Division of Public Service
30% Assist with donor cultivation and retention in the major gifts department
10% Work as a member of the development team assisting in donor/member engagement activities such as events and outreach
10% Develop relationships with professional groups who specialize in estate planning

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience cultivating and stewarding donors with explicit focus on encouraging estate planning gifts for a non-profit organization
B. Knowledge of and experience in best practices for executing and growing a planned giving constituency for non-profits
C. Experience working as a member of a fund raising team

Special Working Conditions

Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.
