  • The Clinical Program Supervisors on the Child and Adolescent (CAP) inpatient units have accountability for the Behavioral Health Therapy team and the Occupational Therapy/Recreation Therapy teams under the direction of their respective Nurse Manager. This position is accountable for unit programing, including involvement of other unit staff in the delivery of unit programing, with the support of the Nurse Manager.
  • This position also oversees and supports the RN Case Manager for the unit.
  • The Clinical Program Supervisor also utilizes advanced clinical expertise and evidence-based approaches to provide clinical leadership to the entire interdisciplinary team on their respective unit. This includes management of the clinically focused mental health aspects of staff education and new employee orientation. It also includes development and maintenance of clinical programing, including group therapy and patient educational programs, and clinical coaching of the staff providing these services.
  • The Clinical Program Supervisor assists the Nurse Manager in maintaining regulatory compliance through policy review, revision, and development. The Clinical Program Supervisor provides systems leadership throughout the hospital related to mental health focused treatment.
  • This position also provides and arranges clinical supervision for in-training therapists
  • This position fulfills the state regulation of a minimum of one Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) on an inpatient psychiatric unit.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Provides advanced clinical leadership to the interdisciplinary team on their respective unit in conjunction with the Medical Director, and in coordination with the Nurse Manager. This includes demonstrating and promoting evidence-based approaches with individual staff members to enhance understanding. It also includes evaluating program offerings for relevance and modifying accordingly.
  • Leads clinical and/or Treatment Plan rounds.
  • Plans the annual education plan in conjunction with the Nurse Manager on the Adult unit and with the Assistant Unit Manager on the CAP unit, incorporating data from staffing learning needs assessment, unit initiatives and regulatory requirements
    • Specific to the CAP Unit: Oversees and directs the implementation of trainings to ensure mandatory 48-hour continuing education requirements for all clinical staff.
  • Provides the clinical aspects of new employee orientation within a format that has been established in conjunction with the Nurse Manager or Assistant Unit Manager as appropriate.
  • Coordinates, teaches, provides leadership, and evaluates effectiveness of the de-escalation training for CAP Psychiatry staff.
  • Provides consultation to the management team related to accreditation standards, staff orientation, hiring, budgeting, and staff performance evaluations.
  • Assists the Nurse Manager, Assistant Unit Manager and Medical Director to ensure unit safety.
  • Evaluates and modifies (if necessary) the proper design, mix, and quality of group therapy offerings in keeping with evidence-based practices.
  • Spear heads patient satisfaction efforts by actively seeking patient feedback through rounding and patient survey information.
  • Uses patient feedback to enhance the patient experience by working with the Nurse Manager and Medical Director to give feedback to staff, modify the physical environment, and modify group experiences as needed.
  • Develops policies and procedures with clinical content, in keeping with evidence-based practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Co-leads/observes patient therapy groups on a regular basis, and in doing so, provides expert clinical feedback to staff.
  • May conduct psychosocial assessments on the unit when needed.
  • May facilitate consultation with outpatient systems regarding complex cases.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science Degree in Social Work
  • 3 - 5 years of clinical experience providing treatment to individuals with mental illness.
  • LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
  • 3 or more years of experience working with the designated population (Adult or Child/Adolescent)
