About the Job

We seek an experienced evolutionary ecologist to conduct research on species' evolutionary responses to environmental change using grassland species as model system. We are interested in recruiting a highly motivated and skilled individual with experience in phylogenetic reconstruction, multilevel modelling, ecophylogenetics, plant traits, imaging spectroscopy, global change. The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for: 1) managing different types of plant traits, phylogenetic, and spectral data; 2) performing multi-trait and eco-phylogenetic analyses to understand better how different dimensions of plant diversity (e.g., functional, phenotypic, spectral, and taxonomic) respond to ecological disturbances; and 3) writing manuscripts to communicate results.

Percentage breakdown of duties:
* 70%: Conduct and publish independent scientific research to understand the responses of plant diversity in its multiple dimensions (functional, phylogenetic, spectral, and taxonomic) to global change factors and time. Reconstruct the evolutionary relationships of plants at the community level. Collect and analyze various plant traits (e.g., morphological, physiological) data and remote sensing data products to address novel questions about plant community reassembly in the face of ecological disturbance and time.
* 10%: Assist collaborators with data collection and data management decisions.
* 20%: Perform other duties, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, the preparation and delivery of presentations, and public outreach.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in ecology, evolution and experience in plant ecology and evolution, community ecology, or a closely related field.
* Demonstrated strong ability to conceptualize, write, and publish high-quality scientific work, with at least five publications as the first author.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with phylogenetic analyses and tree reconstruction.
* Experience with multilevel modeling.
* Experience with R, Phyton, and other programming languages (e.g., Julia).
* Multidisciplinary skills to bridge fields such as community ecology, plant ecology and evolution, theoretical ecology, and statistics.
* Respect for and sensitivity to diverse cultures, identities, and backgrounds in the workplace.
