The Database Administrator ensures the core systems Oracle & SQL databases are available in a 24x7x365 environment for day-to-day operations

Essential Functions:
  • Provides technical guidance on query optimization and best practices to engineering teams and other departments
  • Improve operational efficiencies of database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup/recovery processes, change data capture and disaster recovery procedures
  • Data Retention
  • Monitors the core production system services for proper disk and CPU utilization
  • Research new products and upgrades
  • Documents and improves existing departmental procedures, policies, and workflows
  • Storage Management
  • Closely monitors and manages security related aspects of the Oracle & SQL databases
  • Database Monitoring/Alerts
  • Maintains development, test, and UAT database systems and provide data maintenance services and refresh as necessary
  • Documents database design, integration processes, and disaster recovery processes
  • Performance tuning and optimization as required

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience as Oracle & SQL Database Administrator in a high transaction environment
  • 2+ years experience with Postgres Databases
  • Solid understanding of relational database management systems, SQL queries, and table schema design; working knowledge of PL/SQL, Linux, and Java
  • Understanding of networking, firewalls, security procedures, and audit requirements in relation to database systems
  • Experience with performance tuning, partition, database design, data warehouse, and encryption
  • Working knowledge of storage in relation to database
