The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) Health IT Department is seeking well-qualified candidates for a Manager, Information Technology II position. This position will report to and be under the general supervision of the Director of Interactive Healthcare and Collaborative Technology. The manager will be responsible for the efficient delivery and support of interactive and collaborative technologies across all missions: clinical, research, and medical education. The manager will serve as the functional day-to-day lead in the planning, coordinating staff, and tactical execution of technical services necessary to support performance venues and activities that enrich the student, research, and patient care experience. The manager will have support and technical responsibilities for all interactive and collaborative technology equipment throughout Academic Health Sciences (AHS) including but not limited to classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, educational labs, and patient exam rooms. The manager will also be responsible for ensuring technical documentation and standard operating procedures for all interactive and collaborative systems that are current and relevant.

Responsibilities:

Operations, Systems, and Technical Management:


  • Coordinate, establish proper documentation, communicate, set priorities, and direct unit staff to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective end-user support.

  • Communicate and be the point of contact for end users and stakeholders when issues arise.

  • Responsible for the provisioning of appropriate technologies as well as support for all college-wide special events that occur during and outside of normal work hours.

  • Oversee all projects and maintain project schedules to coordinate resources and ensure continual communication with the Director of IHCT and/or engagement with stakeholders for updates on the progress of project milestones.

  • Interface with vendors for technical support and with the development of requirements to include but not limited to cost estimates for equipment on divisional, departmental, and college-wide purchases.

  • Maintain, support, and administer all integrated technologies in the lecture, meeting, lab, and event spaces throughout the Academic Health Science Center (AHSC).

  • Ensure optimal configuration and performance while integrating new, existing, or updated interactive/ collaborative/ streaming technologies into facilities to Include but not limited to healthcare areas, medical simulation lab environments, educational facilities, conference spaces, clinical skills labs, Team Learning Labs, and regional clinical facilities affiliated with the College of Medicine and AHS.

  • Ensure technical documentation and standard operating procedures are created, updated, and maintained in addition to following departmental, unit, and institutional governance.

  • Maintain the intake, surplus, and review process for all interactive technology assets across all missions in AHS.


Leadership, Strategic Direction and Planning:


  • Assist and participate in the development of the strategic direction to ensure alignment and support for all missions, visions, and goals in the Colleges and units of AHSC across the educational, research, and patient care domains.

  • Assist the Director of IHCT in procurement planning and strategic spending to ensure budget maintenance is timely and accurate.

  • Cultivate an enriching environment based upon meaningful collaboration, promoting growth and creativity among staff, and recommend professional development opportunities where appropriate for self and staff to keep skills current.

  • Keep abreast of changing and emerging interactive and collaborative technologies and provide recommendations and guidance on strategic adoption to enhance education, research, and patient care.

  • Engage in collaboration with peer units strategically and tactically to meet department strategic goals with a common purpose of overall success.


Outreach, Education, and Training:


  • Interface, educate, and provide consultative services with healthcare providers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public as necessary to understand the needs of interactive and collaborative technology and provide meaningful insights to the Directory of IHCT for strategic planning purposes.

  • Work with the colleges, departments, and units to educate, and build awareness and a sense of common purpose around Interactive and collaborative technologies.


Other duties as assigned:


  • Timely completion of all required university and college training and updates

  • Contribute to the overall success of the College by performing all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Promote a positive work environment within Health IT while performing duties not specified above.

  • Provide emergent support for all units within AHS in a timely and effective way to help ensure a quick-response posture in times of crisis.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist).

  • AutoCAD, Vizio, Microsoft Office, and other computer drafting programs. Video streaming and re-streaming platforms/hardware.

  • Cable terminations of all standard AV and networking connectors and associated cable/interface testing equipment.


The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:

  • Proficient with PC/MAC, networking, multimedia equipment, video & audio production equipment, live event equipment, and video conferencing
