Job Summary

  • Customer service - greet customers as they enter / leave the facility (This is a front line customer service position.)
  • Check members in/out of the fitness center using fitness tracking software
  • Ensure member paperwork is up-to-date and they're enrolled in current fitness center course; retrieve member paperwork and other filing tasks
  • Communicate with instructor / supervisor about any facility or equipment issues
  • Answer incoming calls; answer questions about the GCC Fitness Centers, senior fitness programs, and fitness center registration / enrollment from current and prospective members both via phone and in-person; show member / prospective member around facility for a tour if needed
  • Cleaning of fitness equipment, such as cardio machines, strength machines, dumbbells; cleaning and organizing of functional training equipment, mats, lobby area, front desk area; vacuuming and mopping
  • Cleaning and organizing of group fitness room(s) and small equipment items
  • Check and restock items, such as: cleaning wipes, cleaning solution, Kleenex
  • Assist with contacting resources on campus as needed, such as IT/Media, College Police, Enrollment Center
  • Complete employee trainings / acknowledgments in the Employee Learn Center (ELC)
  • Other duties may include (this is not an exhaustive list): laundering towels and blankets, shirt/prize inventory, folding/organizing shirts
  • CPR certification (training provided)
  • May require sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
  • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.
