General Job Description

*Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Dentist offers and provides general dental care and services to patients. As a provider and leader for Family Health Centers of San Diego, you embrace a spirit of service to provide caring, affordable, high quality healthcare and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low income and medically underserved persons. You thrive on the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment with many chronically ill patients, knowing you are making a difference in your community every day. You enjoy partnering with the dental team to provide excellence in dental services and leadership to the dental staff.

Job Roles

*Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients' insurance requirements.

*Consults when appropriate and refers patients as necessary to dental specialists and/or medical providers.

*Instructs and clinically supervises dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other Para-professional personnel.

*Participates in developing and reviewing dental treatment protocols, audit procedures, and quality assurance procedures.

*Performs other duties as assigned.

*Provides dental care to patients, including root canal therapy, restorative (operative and fixed and removal prosthodontics), and oral surgery (simple and surgical).

*Uses resources efficiently; practices dentistry in a cost-effective manner.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

*Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.

*DEA license

*General practice residency or equivalent of 2 years clinical experience preferred.

*Graduate of accredited Dental School.

*License from the State of California as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) required.

*Membership in American Academy of General Dentistry preferred.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

*Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.

*Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.

*Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on apt, etc).

*Bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.

*Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.

*Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to perform, relevant dental practices, protocol, trends, and best practices.

*Effective training and coaching skills; ability to drive results and achieve objectives through others.

*Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

*Good written and verbal communication skills.

*Knowledge of, and ability to adhere to, scope of practice.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

$79.32 - $103.63

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
