About the Job

This is a standing posting to remain open throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.

This posting is not regularly monitored for applications.

Applicants will be contacted by the department if they are being considered for an open position.

Teaching Specialists in Chemistry are hired to teach chemistry laboratory courses, most frequently to supplement our roster of part-time teaching assistants. This job class is used when recent UMN graduates no longer have student status, but are still available and interested in working part-time.

Commonly a 50% position responsible for two laboratory sections of 25-30 students each, which each meet once per week for three hours. Duties also include responsibilities outside the laboratory, including grading lab reports, office hours for their own students and and time spend in the walk-in tutor facility for all students.

Teaching Specialists provide laboratory teaching for courses that supplement the faculty offerings and/or expertise of the faculty in for-credit courses.

Qualifications

A PhD or MS degree in Chemistry is preferred, but qualified applicants with a BS or BA degree in Chemistry are also considered.
