Job Description
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse provides psychiatric evaluations, including Baker Act necessity, and management of patients in the Behavioral Health Unit, Behavioral Medicine Unit of the Baptist Hospital Emergency, and Department and Baptist Hospital under the direction and responsibility of a supervising physician. The Psychiatric (APRN) will also provide in-house, after-hours psychiatric services to patients hospitalized in Baptist Behavioral Medicine Center, including completing psychiatric evaluations, educating patients and obtaining express and informed consent to prescribe psychotropic medications when appropriate. Orders and interprets pertinent tests for psychiatric assessment within their scope of practice and skillset, including labs, diagnostic studies and EKG's. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care. APRN will practice in collaboration with on-call psychiatrists as well as under the supervision of the Medical Director. This position maintains health records in accordance with protocols set forth by BHI. Responsibilities
